Au prix de quelques recherches (les partitions se trouvent souvent\u2026 chez le marchand!), nous avons donn\u00e9 des programmes par dizaines et trouv\u00e9 des p\u00e9pites qui ont s\u00e9duit un public, \u00e0 pr\u00e9sent nombreux et curieux, lui aussi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Constantia, serif;\"> Apr\u00e8s le baroque du Portugal, d\u2019Am\u00e9rique du sud, de Qu\u00e9bec ou de la Venise juive, voici donc la musique issue de l\u2019<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Constantia, serif;\"><b>aventure des J\u00e9suites en Chine<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Constantia, serif;\">. Pour la Compagnie de J\u00e9sus, et d\u2019autres ordres missionnaires, l\u2019\u00e9vang\u00e9lisation \u00e9tait intimement li\u00e9e \u00e0 la culture. Les pr\u00eatres envoy\u00e9s au loin \u00e9taient aussi des musiciens&nbsp;; on raconte que les indig\u00e8nes de la for\u00eat canadienne s\u2019approchaient quand ils entendaient chanter et apprenaient volontiers des cantiques qu\u2019on \u00e9crivait pour eux dans leur langue (Orfeo en a chant\u00e9 en ab\u00e9naki!!). Au Paraguay, en Bolivie, on enseigna aussi aux indiens la fabrication des violons et violoncelles pour qu\u2019ils jouent des op\u00e9ras sacr\u00e9s en costumes qui firent beaucoup pour le christianisme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Constantia, serif;\"> La <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Constantia, serif;\"><b>Chine <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Constantia, serif;\">fut un enjeu bien plus consid\u00e9rable avec sa civilisation raffin\u00e9e et mill\u00e9naire. Aux XVII\u00b0 et XVIII\u00b0 si\u00e8cles, on envoya donc, \u00e0 la cour de l\u2019empereur, des J\u00e9suites lettr\u00e9s, astronomes et math\u00e9maticiens au savoir immense, et qui apprenaient rapidement le chinois&nbsp;; les musiciens en soutane \u00e9tonn\u00e8rent d\u2019abord par leur capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 noter \u00e0 l\u2019instant la musique entendue, \u00e0 fabriquer des orgues complexes. \u00ab&nbsp;Le succ\u00e8s fut tel que nous f\u00fbmes oblig\u00e9s de placer de la soldatesque pour \u00e9viter les d\u00e9sordres de la grande foule qui s\u2019assemblait\u2026 l\u2019auteur de l\u2019orgue \u00e9tant oblig\u00e9 \u00e0 jouer pendant plus d\u2019un mois plusieurs heures par jour.&nbsp;\u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Constantia, serif;\"> On offre \u00e0 l\u2019empereur des clavecins et des clavicordes, fort d\u00e9cor\u00e9s comme il se doit. La religion catholique a donc droit de cit\u00e9 \u00e0 P\u00e9kin et les convertis sont nombreux. Des <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Constantia, serif;\"><b>offices splendides <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Constantia, serif;\">avec processions, instruments et habits magnifiques sont anim\u00e9s par des ch\u0153urs et chantres en partie europ\u00e9ens, en partie chinois&nbsp;; on a retenu le nom du converti Ma Andr\u00e9, devenu habile ma\u00eetre de chapelle. Que chante-t-on \u00e0 P\u00e9kin&nbsp;? Pour l\u2019essentiel, des messes et motets en latin apport\u00e9s d\u2019Europe, mais aussi des cantiques chinois \u00e9crits par les p\u00e8res, tel un <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Constantia, serif;\"><i>\u00ab&nbsp;Yawu Maliya&nbsp;\u00bb<\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Constantia, serif;\"> ou Ave Maria.&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Constantia, serif;\">Lors du concert d\u2019Orfeo, le r\u00e9citant conte l\u2019histoire de Joseph-Marie<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Constantia, serif;\"><b> Amiot<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Constantia, serif;\">, j\u00e9suite fl\u00fbtiste et compositeur, admirateur de la musique chinoise dont il a not\u00e9 et arrang\u00e9 des airs au XVIII\u00b0 si\u00e8cle. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Constantia, serif;\">Et hors de l\u2019\u00e9glise, que joue-t-on&nbsp;? Les p\u00e8res sont curieux d\u2019entendre la musique du pays, ach\u00e8tent, admirent et envoient en Europe des gongs, orgues \u00e0 bouche et carillons&nbsp;. Eux-m\u00eames interpr\u00e8tent devant l\u2019empereur (parfois \u00e0 genoux!) des pi\u00e8ces fran\u00e7aises ou italiennes pour les instruments. Mais la communication est plus ardue&nbsp;: les \u0153uvres chinoises sonnent pauvres et monotones aux oreilles des occidentaux, tandis que les lettr\u00e9s chinois trouvent nos sonates agit\u00e9es, embrouill\u00e9es et fatigantes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Constantia, serif;\"> La synth\u00e8se est donc bien difficile, et le sera aussi pour la religion&nbsp;; les j\u00e9suites (qui portent longue barbe et bonnet local) tentent des rites chinois, des rapprochements avec le confucianisme, mais le pape s\u2019y oppose, et le r\u00eave d\u2019une Chine chr\u00e9tienne s\u2019\u00e9vanouit avec l\u2019interdiction de l\u2019ordre des j\u00e9suites, \u00e0 la fin du XVIII\u00b0 si\u00e8cle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Constantia, serif;\"> Cependant, l\u2019\u00e9glise catholique a gard\u00e9 sa petite place \u00e0 P\u00e9kin, et m\u00eame Mao n\u2019a pu venir \u00e0 bout des chr\u00e9tiens. Aujourd\u2019hui dans la capitale, on c\u00e9l\u00e8bre toujours la messe dans l\u2019\u00e9glise du Beitang, fond\u00e9e il y a plusieurs si\u00e8cles, et les musicologues ont r\u00e9appris au ch\u0153ur les cantiques que le p\u00e8re Amiot composa pour lui il y a pr\u00e8s de 250 ans. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Constantia, serif;\"><i>Yameng. <\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Constantia, serif;\"><i>Un grand merci au musicien et chercheur Jean-Christophe Frisch qui nous a communiqu\u00e9 des partitions in\u00e9dites.
